Races

Humans: Humans have ruled the land of Maloria for as long as reliable historical accounts show. Humans are creative, adaptive and persistent. Since the breakup of the Malorian Empire roughly a millennium ago due to civil war, the humans have formed the Nine Kingdoms of Maloria and are currently at a state of relative peace.

Malorian Humans tend to have pale to lightly tanned skin, dark hair (sometimes fair) and have a range of eye colors from brown to blue to green.

Humans have no racial template

High Elves (Tuatha): The Tuatha of the Towering Isle claim to be descended from fey. They are born with an innate talent for magical power. They are especially adept at manipulating the perceptions and emotions of mortals. The Tuatha (referred to as “High Elves” by the humans) have a strong liking for the high society of human nobility, although they have no understanding of superiority based on class.

Tuatha are at least as tall as humans. They have soft, pale skin, thin, angular features, large, black eyes, pointed ears and silver or gold hair.

They are respectful and protective of the forest flora and fauna and are weary of the more imperial humans. While they tend to be quiet around strangers, they are by nature a whimsical race with a strong love for play and song. Referred to as “Wood Elves” by the humans, the Sylvan have a reputation for being dangerous, perceptive and stealthy.

Sylvan are a little shorter than humans, with males averaging about 5’5" and females averaging about 5’. Their hair and eyes change with the seasons, to match the local forest colors.

Mountain Men (Dwarves): Dwarves are short, hairy and tough as nails. If there’s one thing you can count on a dwarf to do, it’s survive. Dwarven society is very theocratic, following the same earth goddess the Malorians have been following for all history (although they name her Droklyn). While Dwarves are resistant to magic, they cannot practice it themselves, but they have a strong cultural tradition as architects, armorers and alchemists. It is said that it was the Dwarves that taught the ancient Malorians about things such as forging steel and flying buttresses. Referred to as “Mountain Men” by the humans, the dwarves long ago retreated into the Undryk Mountains where they are still weary of the Malorian people. Some dwarf families still live in Malorian society where they are believed to be humans with dwarfism by the humans (and in some cases, themselves).

Dwarves are half the height of a human and tend to be naturally very hairy. They have coarse brown or red hair, tough, leathery skin and beady brown or blue eyes.
